A short history of Ullinge
|
|

 |
During the Stone Age people lived and toiled by the shore of Lake Södra Wixen, where Ullinge Wärdshus is situated today. Archaeological excavations have unearthed stone axes and other object in our soil.
In the 1930s, the family Von Porat built a private mansion here. Today this is our restaurant and main building. The colonel Gösta Von Porat made his home here, and soon turned it into a popular place to visit for his friends and business acquaintances. His guests were met and taken care of by his two daughters Ulla and Inga. Their names combined gave the place its name - Ullinge!
The daughters were experts at taking care of the bountiful delicacies offered by nature and countryside, through hunting and fishing. The most popular month of the year was August, when freshly caught crayfish was on the tables. Still today, this is one of the most popular activities we offer here at Ullinge.
Naturally, a classic on our menu is the "Crayfish Soup Södra Wixen"
Since the early sixties Ullinge has been used for parties, weddings, anniversaries and gradually grown into a full hotel and conference business, open all year
With our staff, we have tried to create a favourite spot of Småland at it's very best. We have developed - and are developing - Ullinge. The proof that we are going in the right direction are the testimonials from our regular guests.
We have also received awards. A few of them are:
- 1994/95 One of Sweden's best golf and conference hotels
- 1997 Accepted as a member of the international Romantik Hotels chain
- 1998 & 1999 Appointed one of Sweden's "best tables", represented in Best of the Roads 2000.
